Message from the Commander:
Hello to all and welcome to the hotter dog days of summer 2010. And with that the usual “Yankees are in 1st place; Mets are in?? place”;
~
Receive a lot of junk mail and solicitations at our PO Box. One just came in from a JOISY guy selling the next big thing, that is, one “1,000 New Iraqi Dinar” for $20.00/US. He goes to say how much it will increase in value as Iraq is stabilized and starts getting oil out. Since I can buy one “100,000 New Iraqi Dinar” for $105.00/per at a currency exchange bank, please pass me whatever this guy (and he says he is a WWII US Navy Vet) is smoking.
Please send me any scams you might have hear about. So let’s start…
Post 117 old business:
~
Storage at Little Ferry: as noted last month, lets’ just say this is a “dead man walking”; paid up thru end of October;
~
Membership: have 22 in so far;
~Graf Update: nothing new;
~
Trip to Racetrack: set for next Saturday; I will update next month. It is not too late for any fence sitters? Call me quick and I will let you know if there are any open spots;
Post 117 new business:
Other new business: had only 1 officer with me at last meeting so we deferred any action on the Operation Popcorn with Boy Scouts and Veterans Haven “room furnishing” project lead by the Department Commander.
We did go thru some finances though:
>$ 200.00 donation to St. Joseph’s Annual Festival (Post signage on game booth)>$ 240.00 renewal of Post Web-site license with National
>$ 100.00 donation/10 tickets @ $10/per to IOOF for “fish fry”>$1200.00 expenses for Freehold Raceway
>$ 200.00 petty cash expenses (Pete McElroy)>$ 349.89 expense (Little Ferry storage @ 3months)
>$ 100.00 donation to RP/VFW as rentCarry from last month:
>$ 500.00 for two (2) $500.00 US Savings Bonds @ $250.00/per bond >$ 500.00 Breakfast Buffet @Marriott (Teaneck)>$ 193.51 petty cash expenses (W Croft (news letter, stamps, postage, copies, per capita))
Monthly Question:
last month’s question was “What is the most common non-contagious disease in the world?” the answer is tooth decay and the winner again is John Purpuro who reminds everyone “you can win unless you are in.”
Only two submissions; which were Bob Schultz (correct also) and John Purpuro.This month’s question:
Let’s try a non-military this month. What weapon did German gunsmith August Kotter unload on the world in 1520?Like the lottery, you can win unless you are in.
Closing:This month’s meeting will be August 17 at the RP/VFW at 19:30.
For God and Country Walter A. Croft;

Post Auxiliary: oops; Ladies take the summer off.
